Traditional Thai versus Thai oil massage
Traditional Thai descriptions commonly include clothed pressure and assisted movement. Thai oil massage brings oil and gliding strokes into the discussion and need not include stretching. Both can be adapted in pressure, but the practitioner must explain what is actually offered. If you want no stretching, say so directly. Do not choose by the word Thai alone and expect the setup to be obvious.
Shiatsu versus Tui Na
Shiatsu is especially associated with pressure contacts using fingers, thumbs and palms. Tui Na includes a wider vocabulary of pushing, grasping, kneading and rolling. A modern session may combine methods, so ask what the provider means by each listing. If you prefer broad contact rather than pointed holds, that is a useful preference to discuss for either appointment.
Balinese versus Javanese massage
Both names appear within Indonesian massage traditions. Menus may distinguish their rhythm, technique or intensity, but no universal rule makes one always gentle and the other always strong. Ask what changes in the provider’s own routine. Oil choice, draping, included areas and hands-on time should be clear. A local explanation is more useful than two nearly identical stories about relaxation.
Abhyanga versus a general oil session
Abhyanga places oil and rhythmic application at the centre of an Ayurvedic approach. A general oil massage may use different patterns and does not automatically claim that tradition. Ask about product choice, warmth, staffing and scalp work. A provider should explain what makes the offered appointment Abhyanga rather than simply applying an Ayurvedic label to an unspecified routine.
Chinese versus Thai foot massage
A visitor may notice overlapping features such as rubbing, sole pressure and calf work. Some routines use tools and others do not. Ask about the actual sequence, support and intensity rather than expecting a national label to determine every movement. A gentle hand-only foot appointment can be a clearer request than choosing the strongest version of either style.
Choose a preference, then ask about availability
The service directory lets you filter for oil, clothed work, stretching, feet and other features. Use that as a starting point, then confirm the style and practitioner available at your preferred time. A useful message names your desired contact and exclusions. If the requested service is unavailable, compare the alternative on its own description before accepting it. A guide is not a live staff roster.
